To open the Max/MSP patch called alone_dancing.patch, please download the latest version of the free Max/MSP RunTime at http://www.cycling74.com, for Mac or Windows.

The patch is used to give the performer more flexibility, allowing the performer to control the entrances of the 20 different sound files with a pedal and allowing the audio files to overlap.

STEPS
Sound:
Double-click the " dac~ " object to select the correct audio driver. (Typically, this will be the Built-In audio or soundcard).

Trigger:
The sound files can be triggered by MIDI Pedal, Computer Keyboard, or Mouse click. (Go to the Trigger Controls section and choose the appropriate input.)

For MIDI Pedal:
Double-click the " ctlin " object to select the correct MIDI device.

For Computer Keyboard (spacebar, etc.):
	a. Select "Keyboard" in the Trigger Controls section.
	b. Press a key on the computer keyboard.
	b. Note down the number in the box under "Find Key Number."
	c. Type in the same number into the number box under "Set Key Number" and hit enter.

For Mouse
	a. Select "Mouse" in the Trigger Controls section.
	b. Click on the large square box under Mouse On/Off.
	c. Move the mouse away from the box.
	d. You are now ready to use the Mouse as the trigger.
	e. **Note** Once you are done using the Mouse as a trigger, turn OFF the Mouse On/Off by click on the large square box again. Now you may use the Mouse as a mouse again.
	f. The smaller box next to the large square box is simply for display.

The "For Rehearsal" section will allow you to prepare the next pedal change. For example if you want to start at 6, click the number in the "For Rehearsal" section. Nothing will happen, but once you hit the trigger (pedal/mouse/keyboard) section 6 will begin and you can move onto section 7, etc. However, if you stop in the middle of the file sequence and want to start over from the beginning of the piece, you'll want to press the "Reset Pedal" button to start back at 1.

"Stop all Audio" stops all files that are playing, but does not turn the dac~ off. If you want to stop individual files, press the "OFF" buttons next to each section.

Note: All of the individual audio files (1.aiff, 2.aiff, etc.) need to be in the same folder as alone_dancing.patch for the audio to work.

This patch should work on Mac or PC running the correct version of Max/MSP Runtime.
